Love Will Tear Us Apart

For those hungry for love,  this Valentine’s special combined live theatre with legendary Beefy Boy burgers.

About the work

It’s 1981 and Bea is hosting a dinner in memory of her dad Alfie. In his honour, she takes us back to 1913 when the younger Alfie met the love of his life Rose, amidst the racket and muck of Hereford’s old cattle market. Alfie was a ruddy-cheeked farm boy with rough hands and big ideas, Rose the bohemian daughter of a local landowner, dreaming of art and romance.

They fell and they fell hard but their young love was star crossed. Their parents, the class divide and the horrors of the first world war would try to tear them apart. As this love story for the ages unfolds it reveals a tragic secret that has defined Bea’s very existence…

Love will Tear Us Apart is about standing in the mud whilst looking at the stars, trying to hold on to each other when the sky falls in and the heartbreak of saying goodbye. Expect laughter, tears and a banging 80s soundtrack.

The experience of writing ‘Love Will Tear us Apart’ was truly collaborative. We all drew upon our own family experiences & histories in a democratic creative process
