A weekly theatre practice group for ages 16+, led by writer/director Ant Stones

Dates: Every Friday from 5th September to 12th December (except half term)
Time: 6 - 8pm
Location: The Courtyard Arts Centre, Edgar Street, Hereford
Price: £65 per term plus plays (ordered by the participant)
What to expect
Facilitated by Ant, participants sight read plays and discuss the text. Additionally, some scenes are worked as if the group were a company of actors in a rehearsal process.
Participants learn vocal techniques for stronger characterisation skills, increase their repertoire and their knowledge of both classical and contemporary plays.

Our Country's Good - Timberlake Wertenbaker
Having debuted at The Royal Court, Our Country’s Good won the 1988 Olivier Award as play of the year before transferring to Broadway. An exploration of ruling officers’ attempts to ‘civilise’ the convicts in their care that is based upon the first individuals transported to Australia.

Completed in 1941, this play asks how a person trying to lead a good life can do so in a world that wants to take advantage of them, but also raises questions around cultural appropriation and how to stage older works in a sensitive but exciting way.

In Shakespeare’s shortest play, 2 sets of identical twins accidentally separated at birth unknowingly meet again, resulting in a series of mishaps and mistaken identities.
